Mount Sinai with its 2,285 meters is the second highest mountain in Egypt after the Mount Catherine (2,637 m) located about 5 km south West.
There are two routes for reach the top of the mountain. The first, known as El Siket Bashait , is longer and less steep. The climb is possible on foot or by camel through the guidance of local Bedouins. The approximate walking time is about two and a half hours. The second approach, known as Siket Sayidna Musa, is more direct and steeper part directly behind the monastery. This route is approximately 3750 steps of repentance those steps .
