| Apamea is located on the right bank Orontes, 55km to the northwest of Hama , on 'plateau Gahab . It was built by Seleucos Nikator first Seleucid king (300 BC), in honor of his Afamia wife. The city flourished and its population reached the number, remarkable for the time, half a million.
